PV-Calor Is Now Calculytic

You may have already noticed when opening the site: we look different – and we have a different name, too. PV-Calor has become Calculytic. In this post we explain why we renamed the platform, what has changed in the new look, and why you don't need to worry about your saved projects.

Why a new name?

When we launched at the end of 2024, our clear focus was photovoltaics – hence PV-Calor. Since then, the platform has grown considerably. Today you can calculate the heating load of your building room by room, size a heat pump, simulate the yield of a solar system, and check whether a split air conditioner works as a heating system. On top of that, there are the mini calculators for quick individual questions.

A name starting with "PV" no longer did justice to this range. Calculytic puts the focus on what this platform is really about: calculating instead of guessing – whether it's heat, electricity, or both.

One consistent look

Along with the name, we also renewed the design – everywhere. Website, calculators, mini calculators and knowledge articles now follow a shared design: same colors, same fonts, same controls. Switching from an article to a calculator no longer feels like a jump between two different sites.

Along the way, the site has also become faster and easier to read: contrasts have been reworked, fonts load quicker, and the layout feels calmer overall.

New in the calculators

Quite a bit has changed inside the calculators as well:

Uniform project start: You create new projects in all calculators using the same step-by-step assistant, right on the page.
Project bar: A slim bar at the top always shows which project you are working in and opens the project management with one click.
Solar calculator with its own results view: Results now appear as a separate view instead of below the input form – keeping both easy to follow.
Much better on mobile: Dialogs, tables and input forms now handle small screens well. If you want to quickly check something on the go, now you actually can.

Lots of small improvements

Behind the scenes, we have tidied up: closed translation gaps – all content is now fully available in eleven languages –, fixed bugs, and set up automated checks that keep such gaps from going online in the future.

One change affects the calculation results themselves: for locations in Germany, we consolidated the data basis for standard outdoor temperatures. In some regions, a freshly opened heating load calculation may therefore differ slightly from an earlier result – it is now more accurate. If you are using an older calculation as a planning basis, it is worth taking a fresh look at your project.

What stays the same

The most important part comes last: our principles do not change. All calculators remain free to use, with no registration. Your saved projects and project keys keep working, results can still be exported as PDF, and the old address pv-calor.com automatically redirects here.
